SELECTION
- Professional
grade dark soapstone (steatite), fantastic colors with greens/blues,
some with cream colored veins; harder than Brazilian stone, softer than
alabaster, close to a 2 1/2 in hardness. Superior finish and detail.
The grizzly at the bottom this page was sculpted from this stone.
- Great
blue/grey soapstone, polishes up fairly dark, a little softer than stone
#1, about a 2 in hardness. Just uncovered this deposit and are excited
about finding more of the same quality.
- Some quantities
of a soft very green/caramel colored soapstone, almost pure talc, almost
a 1 in hardness but not mushy at all.. Mostly small pieces, great for
students.
